Book 1 & 2

Walk Two Moons is about a strong, young 13 year old woman, named
Salamanca Tree Hiddle or Sal.  In the beginning Sal’s mother, Chanhassen,
leaves, but doesn’t come back; when Sal’s father finds out that Chanhassen,
the love of his life is not coming back he hacks away at a wall and finds a
fireplace.  One thing behind another, like being in another story, though in
your own life. To me, that fireplace represents Phoebe Winterbottom,
Sal’s friend. Phoebe goes through the same loss as Sal, though not as
permanent.  After Sal’s father finds the fireplace they move to Euclid, Ohio,
where Sal meets Phoebe Winterbottom, along with a “friend” of Mr. Hiddle’s,
Margaret Cadaver, with her wild red hair, and creepy voice. One day while
walking back from school, Phoebe and Sal walk to Phoebe’s house, wait
there a while, when the doorbell rings.  Cautiously, Phoebe opens the door,
to a stranger. With suspicious behaviour, the stranger asks for Mrs.
Winterbottom. When he leaves Phoebe calls him a “potential lunatic”.
After that, the winterbottoms start receiving weird messages, even after
Mrs. Winterbottom left. When the girls find out who the lunatic is, Phoebe
and Sal go looking for him.  They are led to a university, there, they make a
big discovery. “Huzza, Huzza”.
